How to fix a blank display on Apple Watch after swimming

I went for a swim for 45 mins in a pool which was hardly 6ft deep… after i came out from and checked the watch had stopped responding.. i could feel the haptic touch responding but the screen was black

i checked my phone and my watch was connected and was “ON” but the display is blank

this has happened to me in the past too …. I went to apple store for repair but they said the watch is non repairable. Thereafter my watch automatically came on and was working fine .

this is the 2nd time it’s happening.. day 1 after the swim my display never came on and on day 2 (whole night on charge) the display came on but flickered and went off .

my watch is not under warranty but this is a hardware problem and apple is not ready to help but are asking me to buy a new one .

has any one faced a similar problem and is this a build issue and should apple replace my watch?

So I took the watch to an authorised Apple repair centre, They opened the watch and showed the damaged, and its just due to water getting inside, The small circuits and mother board all have corrosion on it and im suggested to either buy a new one or put in a motherboard of another damaged watch which is costing me around INR 7K or around USD 85.

But again no guarantee and strictly no no no water... They told me that all apple watches coming for repair are due to water problems only

I was also advise that even if I buy a new one I should avoid water contact for long life of the device

I just don't understand why market a feature which the watch is not capable of performing.. because of their Ads and Swimming feature I took the watch in water (under advisable limits)

If the watch is water resistant and not water proof then that information should be loud and clear and the Customer should be made aware about it . They should also educate the customer on the life of the "water resistant" adhesive .

In all its a big scam that apple is conducting, its absolutely misleading its customers

I am on my third SE Watch. My screen started to glitch, the crown stopped responding, the watch started to overheat on my wrist, and then would not charge. When placed on the charger the watch would get extremely hot and never gain any power. This happened for the last time just the other day and I am so fed up with having to spend money on a watch that hasn't worked effectively since the date of purchase. Each time I was sent a "new" watch, but continue to have the same problem. Apple has no idea why it keeps happening. The worst part is I still have over a year on my plan through my phone company.

This has literally just happened to me! Went in the shower, was working fine in there. Panicked as it has a crack on the screen, was working fine, was in the shower, LITERALLY, no more than 5 minutes. Was laid down for a bit to then look and see that it was not working and was really confused, thinking it might be flat, but missed the notification of it going flat. Responded to nothing, put it on charge for 15 minutes, heard the chime of it turning on and the vibration of buttons but still a blank screen! Glad this is a technical fault and not a mistake on my behalf! Accidentally been in the shower with it cracked before no issues. Been swimming with it (not cracked) no issues. And now suddenly, boom, gone. Going to leave it to see if it will dry out and turn on!

You believe all that sales info without reading the small print underneath?

99.9% of the time you'd be justified but 1 in 1000 (my numbers) will come here with a wetted watch or phone and we will quote the warnings that Apple give.

Not permanent

Not guaranteed

I would not even get Watch wet without paying for AppleCare+ because in most countries there is no warranty get-out.

Oh my gosh THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! in water mode, it suddenly tried to call SOS and then I couldn’t disable because the touch screen was locked and then it blacked, it’s been 5 days and now it finally turns on without the Temperature overheating symbol showing but I have no touchscreen ability, it only touches two numbers of the passcode the rest won’t respond… :( I’m so disappointed

My Apple Watch Series 8, which I used for swimming for the first time, suddenly showed an emergency call notification after my swim. Despite trying to reset it, the device is now stuck in Apple logo reboot mode and unresponsive. I visited an Apple Store in BKC, Mumbai, but they were unable to repair it due to it being out of warranty and not turning on.
