Best OS for Mac mini late 2014

I think I understood from the previous thread that as long as I had 8 GB of RAM that I could go from Mohave to Monterey without any problem. However, one of the screenshots showed the writer's processor to be 3.0 GHz Intel Core i7. My processor is only an i5 (2.6 GHz). It seems like that would be a limiting factor as well. Should I be concerned about Monterey slowing my computer down? Please help and advise.

some people have had issues trying to upgrade to monterey from any macOS prior to big sur. if it was me, i would try upgrading from Mojave, to catalina then to big sur and only then on to monterey.

the downloads for Catalina and big sur can be found here:

How to download macOS - Apple Support

but if your Mac is HDD equipped, you may not want to upgrade past Catalina. the later macOSes run VERY slow on machines equipped with an HDD.
