Gen Two Pencil Never Pairs

I have followed all of the steps listed to reboot everything, but my gen two pencil won’t connect. The Apple Pencil pop up appears but never actually connects no matter what I do. I followed all the steps on the support page so please don’t tell me to try that again. It just flashes for about a minute and disappears and doesn’t connect. How do I get this to work? It’s done this every so often and takes days before it decides to work again!
