It could be possible that it's caused by hardware backlight or LCD panel related issue. Try to contact Apple support or take your MacBook Air to your local retail AppleStore, Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined your MacBook Pro there.

Have same issue, exactly the same! Brought it to Apple service this morning. They connected an external monitor but no results. So they kept it to have a look at it... :/
