I have received the same message only with a different bank. “message on iphone the application or device has violated security policy”. I contacted the bank and they tried to resolve it but after seeing these messages I am sure it is an Apple issue. I updated my phone and it did not connect the issue. What the heck?

Assuming no VPN or other local activities, it is very likely a bank app issue.

The app developers are possibly trying to be clever with their checks, and got caught out.

Depending on what they're trying to do, they may well have run afoul of the built-in malware defenses.

Apps shouldn't be poking around outside their own app sandbox, for instance.

And if it's not a bank app issue, then the bank app developers are still the best point of contact with Apple.

It would be better if you can please re-post with a screenshot, in order to understand the phenomenon better. Images/pictures speak louder than words.

Please understand this is a public forum: While attaching a Screenshot, do not provide any personal credentials, such as IP address, Card detail, email id, apple id, IMEI number, Serial Number, Phone number, Order ID, if you are sharing a map ensure your location is not identifiable, etc.

With the limited information that you have provided, It is hard to even guess the problems faced by you.

If a Citibank app is crashing, that’s on the Citibank app support to troubleshoot.

Even if this is an Apple issue, the app developers know what they’re encountering.

Whether that’s an app bug, some jailbreak detection or mis-detection, some VPN client, Lockdown, or who knows what, the app developers are the only folks that know what that error means.

Y’all are unfortunately well removed from the app developers too, as are probably also are the support folks that you’re discussing this with. And unfortunately, the app developers were less than helpful with that error.

There is some more speculation (en español) aqui: https://www.reddit.com/r/MexicoFinanciero/comments/zm1jd3/duda_app_citibanamex_ios/

If you are experiencing any difficulty with third-party apps or a specific website or a product then please contact the app developer or site publisher/host or the manufacturer directly. Here is how

  • To contact an App developer --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support
  • To contact a web publisher —> Scroll Down to the bottom of the web page. You will find: Contact Us, Help Center, Support, Terms of use, etc.
  • To contact the Manufacturer --> Please read the manual that may have come along with the product.

Hi!

I’m attaching the screenshot of the Citibank App problem described above.

Once I open the app this message appears:

”The app has detected a potential security threat on this device. For your protection, the app will close. REF: 7215., 9550:27AF”

After few seconds, the app closes.

Then I open the app again and everything works as it should.

Have you seen or experimented this issue before? Any thoughts?

Regards,

Oliver.

Hi MrHoffman!,

I agree with you in everything you just mentioned above and appreciate your words.

I’ve already seen the Reddit thread in the past and some other tweets & blogs discussing the same issue, but as you can see, without any resolution whatsoever.

Hope the Citibank & Apple app devs can discuss this soon and eventually thousands of users like me can have this issue fixed.

Regards,

Oliver
