What is an error code 4045 when trying to update Iphone 12 on a PC in recovery mode?

What is an error code 4045 when trying to update Iphone 12 on a PC in recovery mode?

when I repeated the process I then got error 4013.

Gets as far as 'preparing Iphone for software update', then 'witing for iphone' when the recovery mode screen goes off on the iphone.

What is the next step when it fails to update? The phone will not switch on. Tried forced restart etc.

iPhone 12, iOS 16
