Hello Bytheriver51,
We have a great support article that might help with this. It explains all the ways you can locate a Pages document. Please take a look at it here: Find a document in Pages on iPad - Apple Support. Follow this guidance:
"Find a document
- Open Pages, and if a document is already open, tap Documents in the top-left corner to see all your documents.
- Do any of the following:
- Search: Tap in the search field at the top of the window, then enter all or part of the document’s name.
- View only shared or recently edited documents: Tap the link in the top-left corner of the screen, then tap Recents or Shared Documents.
- Browse for a document: The location you’re browsing is shown along the top of the screen. For example, if you see Pages on the left and iCloud Drive at the top, the current location is the Pages folder in iCloud Drive. To change where you’re browsing, tap the link in the top-left corner to see the Locations list (you may have to tap more than once), then tap a location.
- Sort by name, date, size, or tag: Tap
at the bottom of the screen, then tap an option. To view the documents as a list instead of as thumbnails, tap
."
If the method you want to use is not available, you can certainly leave feedback on this functionality. No one is better qualified to provide feedback about Apple products and services than the people who use them. The following link will get you started: Product Feedback.
We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
