Music genre doesn't auto-complete, lyrics don't save, additional options not saving.

Hello there, last year I've moved from a Macbook Pro into a M1 Macbook Air.

[GENRE ISSUE] Since then every time I add new files into the Music app, when sorting out the genre it doesn't autocomplete from the list of the previously added genres. It's a feature that was working perfectly on the previous version but since I've got the M1 this issue is persistent.

[LYRICS ISSUE] When manually adding lyrics to the songs, if I have two or more songs that I want to add lyrics, I have to open one song, add the lyrics and click OK to close, then proceed to the next song. If I use the arrows to cycle between songs, the lyrics that were added will not save.

[END TIME ISSUE] Sometimes I get songs that have a long intro or outro and Music has a feature to "crop" the song at the selected start and end times. They're are not working at all.

  • I'm using the latest software (1.3.3.2) and OS (13.2.1).
  • I've tried holding Option+CMD when opening the app.
  • I've tried to reload the music content of my whole library (around 1.5K files)

I've searched the internet and found many users with the same issues if not similar... and yet not solution. From one of the found related issues, someone mentioned to try to look for files with special characters and I've individually looked into every single song file I have, all of them have normal latin characters.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Rescovedo,

Thanks for that detailed explanation of what issues you are facing with Music on your Mac. The features you mention should be working as expected, so let's see if we can narrow down what might be causing this behavior.

To start off, we advise that you restart your Mac (Shut down or restart your Mac) and make sure it's fully updated (Update macOS on Mac). Once those are done, please test this issue.

If the issue persists, continue by testing to see when this behavior occurs. First, put your Mac into safe mode and test. Booting into safe mode will disable any startup and login items from automatically opening, which can help us to isolate the source of the issue further. When you do this, you’ll see some unusual behavior from the display; this is to be expected. Please follow the steps in this article: How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Next, let's see if this behavior persists in a new user account on your Mac. Testing in a new user will determine if you have a system-wide issue or if it's user-specific. Please follow these steps to make a test account that can be deleted later: Change Users & Groups settings on Mac. Once the new user account has been set up, log out of your own account then into the new one to test the issue.

Let us know how this goes, please. Thanks and take care.
