Salutations JM1711,
While you can sync some data to iCloud, you can’t create a backup of your Mac to iCloud and knowing exactly what you’re wanting to back up may help make that decision for you.
This first article goes over sharing your files from your Mac’s Desktop and Documents folder to all your devices with iCloud Drive.
Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive
This next article goes over how to make a Time Machine backup Back up your Mac with Time Machine Keep in mind that you will need to use an external storage device that you can reformat and use only for Time Machine.
Time Machine also has the option to make automatic periodic backups, backing up data stored on your Mac that has changed.
Thanks.
