Display on Macbook Pro suddenly flickering/colors are off/weird halo around open windows.

A couple days ago my Macbook was having a hard time turning on properly (it sometimes has issues turning on even though it is fully charged) but when it finally turned on the display was all kinds of strange. The whites have a flickery thing going on. The colors are all off and very bright. There is some weird shadow/halo around everything like my menu bar and when I open a finder window or something.

When I take a screenshot and send it to my phone the colors and everything look normal so it is something to do with the display. But, when I bring up the screenshot on my MacBook and hit the "airdrop" option the screenshot is suddenly normal colors and no flickering until I hit cancel and then it goes back to weird colors again.

I have gone through all the steps I could find online about a flickering screen but nothing changes it.

I am attaching a YouTube video to show what I mean about the screenshot when I go to send it by airdrop.

About a Flickering Mac Screen:

I had this issue on my 2017 MBP, and had to send it in 11 times to get this fixed. The issue is the compactor going from the screen into the LogicBoard. It just became loose.

Based on personal experience.

Get this Serviced:

Why risk a faulty device?

It's Time for a New Screen:

Get one from one of the following three locations. Getting it elsewhere, you might end up getting an non-genuine display.

A. Contact Apple Support:

If purchased from Apple, or covered under AppleCare, then get this serviced by Apple.

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. And that makes sense because with the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

Or..

B. Contact an AASP:

Also, take this to an AASP (Apple Authorized Service provider), asking for assistance.

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the Mac

Or...

C. Contact A Retailer:

  • Contact your local retailer, seeing if they replace these.
