Do I need to pay a fee to use AirTag?

Thanks for answer. I wasn’t sure how to use airtag because I saw no map on my screen. And the phone asked me to pay for AirPro I guess 3.99/day or weekly monthly yearly $20. But it turned out I needed to install My Find app. And then open AirTag in my phone settings to set it up. After over an hour of googling “how to” videos I got AirTag set up. Glad you said no pay!! That was tricky and because there’s no instructions for how to set up air tag and it’s not working when you pull the battery tab just a screen comes up showing devices and you click continue next screen offers these air pro programs for a price. I’m not sure why these companies don’t have better set up instructions. Also it made me upgrade my phone and now I’m locked until I enter a code! I never had to do that before. I’m going to try to get rid of the Lock Screen. I have zero secrets on my phone!!! It’s just another code to put in to use it. I like simple.
