AirPods and Apple Watch Ultra reliable connection? I’m considering purchase of an Ultra watch. An attractive feature would be the ability to use just AirPods and the Ultra watch to make calls and listen to music (so I do not have to walk around holding my watch up to my face to talk to someone). From the community I’m learning that the connection to the watch is dependent on the iPhone and sometimes the iPhone will steal back the connection to the AirPods e.g. following a pause of music on the watch to take a call. Has this been fixed?

Not if the watch is running watchOS 9. You need a device running ios 16. That means an iPhone 8 or newer.
