Apple Watch fitness and health apps

I’ve been reluctant to give up my Fitbit and have been wearing it on my ankle or carrying it in a pocket since I bought my first Apple Watch years ago. I prefer the Fitbit App. It’s got the info I want, interface is clear, and it helps interpret my data, which I need because I’m not a super fitness junkie, just someone who wants a good overview of my health, quickly. After all of Fitbit’s recent issues, I’ve decided it’s time to let it go. Does anyone have suggestions for Apple Watch apps that do what the Fitbit app does? Health is okay, but a distant second when it comes to everything I liked about the Fitbit app.

I can hardly believe you have had Apple Watch all those years.

Apple Watch has neither Health nor Fitness apps (they are iphone apps)

Watch has the Workout and Activity apps which strongly correlate to the fitbit activity tracking.

The main difference is probably no live step counting.

Check out this article for Using Workout basic information

Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

In general there are two types of workout:

Ones using gps distance, time, heart beat, age, weight, height, gender.

And ones using time, heart beat, age, weight, height, gender but without distance.

Some like swimming can detect types of stroke but in general they estimate effort in calories and time for your build snd the types of workout help you keep track of what workout types you did.

I doubt if yoga and taichi and weight training give different effort results if the time and heart rate are the same.

I obviously haven’t been using my Apple Watch for fitness or health tracking before now. That’s why I kept the Fitbit around. I find the native apps lacking. What I’d like to find is one app that aggregates both health and fitness data and helps interpret the data. I currently use third party apps for tracking sleep, steps, etc. but I’d love to find one app with a great interface to rule them all 😄 (I don’t mind paying for it.)
