Stop the creation of invisible files on SMB network shares

How do I stop the creation of invisible files on an SMB network share? Files are invisible to Mac, but visible to PC users. They all start with a period. Example ".xxxx". We are currently using Mac OS Ventura. Also, what is the value of having these files? Will it impact performance or abilities in anyway if we stop the creation of them?

You cannot. These files are there for a reason. While they are invisible to the user on a Mac, they are required by some processes on Macs. You can use the command+shift+.(period) keys to show any invisible files on the Mac side.

That will depend on the file specifically. Some processes in macOS require these files to work. macOS will create the files it needs for the purpose it needs them. .plist files for instance can store settings and other configurations for specific apps. These should not be deleted, unless you know specifically what they are for, and that you specifically no longer require them.
