Payment Changes
Why can’t I have my debit card as my default payment method? Why does it have to be the money I have in my Apple ID account? It won’t let me switch the order.

Apple ID balance will always be used first to pay for all purchases and subscriptions automatically.
Once its consumed any other added payment methods will be used in the order they appear in.
The account balance cannot be moved around. It will always be used first. This is by design.
