I forgot my password on my Mac and successfully reset it using another laptop (not an Apple). Below are the instruction on how to reset the password on the device:

Was able to reset my password but when I re-start I was asked for user name and password to verify the startup disk. I tried several passwords that I normally use, but can't figure it out.
I tried to Erase Mac but can't find the right option in the macOS recovery.
