Is anyone else still having this? I’ve tried every fix I can find online with no success!! Can download over mobile data but can’t play anything that hasn’t been downloaded! Apple radio stations seem to work fine though! Really frustrating, think I’ll have to move to Spotify!

Hi Markden1934,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're seeing an alert when you attempt to stream music via the Music app.

Do you experience the same behavior after you restart your iPhone? If you need help to restart, this article will guide you: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

If you go to Settings > Cellular > Music, do you have Music enabled here?

Do you experience the same behavior while connected to any Wi-Fi network?

We look forward to your reply.

Cheers!

By default, when you purchase a tune from Music, it doesn’t get automatically downloaded to device. This is problematic when you try and play song when not connected to internet.

To resolve goto a song that has this issue, look for the three dots to the right of said song. Tap and select download to put locally on device.

Check to see if it plays, if it does, good. Turn off Wi-Fi and or cellular and try again, if it does then go back and repeat for other songs doing the same. There is a way to download all purchased songs from Music at once.
