Black Screen while using Apple TV app on M1 MacBook Air when extending my desktop to M1 iPad Pro 11in

I use my M1 iPad Pro 11in to extend the desktop of my M1 MacBook Air. When I try to run the Apple TV App on my MacBook, audio plays but the window is black. I use a hotspot while at my desk, my MacBook for personal browsing, YouTube on my extended desktop, and another window on my internal display. I would like only have my MacBook connected to the hotspot to cutdown on bandwidth. The only app giving me problems is Apple TV. It won't show video on both the MacBook or the iPad until I stop extending or mirroring, meaning both have to connect to the hotspot. Is there a way to fix this issue?

How are you connecting the iPad to your Mac?

Directly via cable? I suppose so, since you mentioned sparing wireless bandwidth.

I don't have an iPad Pro, but my oldish 7th gen iPad has no trouble with Apple TV or other app playing video or otherwise using the screen while extending the desktop of my mac.

The Mac is running Ventura 13.2.1 and the iPad is on iOS 16.1.1. I am now updating the iPad to the latest iOS, and will test again.
