Contact Walgreens and ask your money back if possible.

See -> About Gift Card Scams -> About Gift Card Scams - Official Apple Support

Instead of buying an iTunes card, you can Add money to your Apple Account balance anytime, no gift card needed, see ->  App Store & iTunes gift card -> Apple Gift Card - Apple (UK)

You may need to have a valid payment method on file.

Never buy a gift card from a retailer that has them accessible to the public. They should only be purchased behind a counter. This scam has been going on for years. People will take a bunch of cards and peel/scratch off the grey sticker and write down the code. They replace the sticker with a new one that can be purchased from Amazon and return the cards to the display. After it is activated, they will spend the balance before you get a chance to. Retailers will lock up products that can be stolen from them, but when money is stolen from you, they claim it is not their fault. The solution for the retailers that care about their customers is to only sell them behind a counter and Apple is not able to dictate how the stores merchandise the Gift Cards. Every retailer knows about this scam and some just don't care.

I’m having a similar situation too. Just bought a gift card from Walgreens too…When I redeemed it I received an error message:

”Cannot redeem Code/The Code Entered is Invalid”

I called apple support &

sent pictures of my receipt, gift card , code and serial number. They were able to find it. I’m waiting for a call back from support; they are going to provide me a new code.

I’ll follow up after I talk to them.

please try what I did

Same thing happened to me for 25.00 from Walgreens. Again a sealed card. Have the original receipt shows activation but I lost the little gift card slip so apple won’t refund my money. Talked to Walgreens where I purchased, they said it was an ongoing problem but store can’t refund my money. They gave me company customer service number and they opened a case. Hopefully they can help.

The same thing happened to me. It was sealed. Apple support nor Walgreens could help. Apple told me a code on outside envelope the card was in, did not match with the actual iTunes card code. All I know is I purchased it, opened it, tried to redeem it and it said it could not be redeemed. Lost 25.00. I filed a complaint with Walgreens and even though I presented a receipt for card purchase, they said after a review they could not help me.
