How do I turn off Sports and Fox in News?

How do I turn off Sports and Fox in News? I have turned off Fox News, but I still see big blocks where Fox News would be, but instead it's got a blank spot saying I've blocked news from this channel.

I've also blocked NFL and Sports as topics. I have read that I can additionally dislike news that is shown. The problem is that new from Apple News Editors still shows. All of this March Madness is taking up tons of space. I don't want to see it. Addtionally, even though I've blocked both Fox and Sports, the March Madness is showing sports new from Fox Sports. A double whammy of nothing I want to see. Why can't we completely opt out? I see that News isn't even a topic that I can choose for this post.

AFAIK, there isn’t a way to do that. You can select which channels you want to follow, and can restrict Today to show only what you follow, and can 👎🏼 channels, but there’s no way to directly block channels.
