I was trying to text my dad. But it’s not working anymore. In a recent message while he was in another country, it said “send as text message” and I unknowingly pressed it. I cannot change it back. All my other contacts are iMessage but this specific contact is text message. And yes, he does have an iPhone and now he is in the same country

With that being the case, we'd suggest that you delete his contact info, restart your iPhone and add his contact info again. Doing so may help to resolve the issue you're facing.
