Overheating USB-C to 3.5-mm Headphone Jack Adapter

My brand new Apple USB-C to 3.5-mm Headphone Jack Adapter overheats within a few minutes of being used with a 10th generation iPad. When this happens, audio output stops. When the hot adapter is unplugged, audio plays fine through the iPad speakers.

Has anyone found a solution for this?

I tried restarting, unplugging and plugging the adapter back in, but unfortunately the problem persists. I knew of similar problems on M1 IPad Pro 2021, is there anyone else having the same problem as me?

USB c headphone adapter not working Does anybody know why my usb c headphone adapter isn’t working? Whenever I plug it in it just plays from the iPad speakers and not my headphones. I’m starting to get really irritated of it so please help me. Also it is a google adapter and not an apple one.
