MacBook keys not working???

As of today 3/23/23 the back, pause, and next (f7,f8,f9) keys on my MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip have stopped working. There haven’t been any updates in the last 24 hours. I shut it down, restarted, checked for updates, etc., and just these three keys aren’t working. The dim and brighten screen work just fine, along with volume and others. This is very frustrating as I listen to Apple Music constantly and one of the built in features/keys isn’t working. I’ve only had this MacBook for 3 months and it was brand new. Only program I have loaded is silhouette design, and that’s been from day one. There shouldn’t be any reason for these keys to have stopped in the last 24 hours. All help is appreciated!

Hey there andirae84,

We understand some keys aren't working on your MacBook Pro. We'd be happy to provide information to help you address this.

Check to see if these keys work correctly in safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Also, check if you may have accidentally enabled an accessibility setting:

If your Mac doesn’t respond to key presses - Apple Support

If other keys don’t work
You may have accidentally set an option that changes how your keyboard operates.
* Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, click Accessibility  in the sidebar, then click Keyboard on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Make sure Slow Keys is turned off. If Slow Keys is on, you must press and hold a key longer than usual before it’s recognized.
* Choose Apple menu > System Settings, click Accessibility in the sidebar, then click Pointer Control on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Make sure Mouse Keys is off.
* Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Keyboard  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Edit next to Input Sources on the right, then turn on “Show Input menu in menu bar.” Open the Input menu, then make sure the correct keyboard layout is selected.

Kind regards.
