can I sign into a different Apple id on my computer, without disrupting that computer's apple id?

It depends on what you're trying to do, or more specifically, where you're trying to sign in.
Assuming this is a Mac, you can only sign into one Apple ID at a time in System Preferences / Settings. You can however sign into different Apple ID's in some specific apps like Messages or FaceTime. Or via the web at iCloud.com or the Apple ID website.
