MBP M1 won't connect to Canon R6 Camera

Before upgrading to Ventura I had no problem connecting via usb-c cable from a Canon R6 camera to 2021 MBP M1 chip. Now when I plug the camera into the laptop it does not even recognize the camera is connected. The Utility App from Canon won't sync to the camera either.

I've tested with multiple cords, different usbc ports, I've turned the laptop on and off, and I've even tried with an older Canon camera. Still no luck! I even tried turning the Firewall off and tested that.

Anyone having this problem? I'm thinking it's Ventura that is causing the problem as everything worked seamlessly prior.

Please help!

Hey RebeccaGraceDD,

Those are some great steps you took on your own! Did you also test this on another computer to confirm that the issue may be coming from your Mac? If not, and you have another computer available, that step would be very helpful to further isolate the issue.

If the issue doesn't happen on another computer, see if you can try this again on your Mac while you're in safe mode. Safe mode prevents certain items from launching on startup, and also runs a basic disk repair, so it's a good step for narrowing things down: How to use safe mode on your Mac
