Solid and reliable USB-C hub for MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro
Hello Dear Community
I am looking for a multiport USB-C hub for my MacBook Pro 14" 2021 with the Apple M1 Pro chip, Ventura v13.2.1 OS. My requirements for such a device are:
- 2-3 USB-A ports,
- 4K@60Hz HDMI port,
- PD,
- Ethernet,
- (optional but really good to have) DisplayPort.
I checked various models available yet there are many mixed opinions on the Internet about hardware issues with M1 chips. What's your experience with this topic? Are you able to recommend specific devices or strongly advice against? Which of the following models could have limitations with the mentioned MacBook?
- Anker 565 USB-C Hub (11-in-1)
- Anker 563 USB-C Hub (11-in-1)
- Satechi Aluminum USB-C Multiport Pro Adapter - Apple (I had that once in my hands, the quality of USB sockets seemed poor)
- Plugable USB-C 7-IN-1 Hub with Ethernet (not available outside the US :( )
I already know that 60Hz on HDMI is supported only for monitors with DP 1.4. Are these hubs operational when not charged with the PD port? The mentioned MacBook has a dedicated charging MagSafe connector instead of USB-C so I would not be charging MacBook with the hub whenever possible.
I am looking forward to your opinions,
Mariusz
