Hi Joycemc57,

It would be our pleasure to assist. While there isn't a supported way to change the name of your printer in the iOS/iPadOS software, you may be able to change it in a variety of other ways.

  • Connect with your printer support. You may find the manufacturer has an app you can install to manage the printer settings.
  • Find the IP address for your printer, and change the name by accessing the printer via IP address in a web browser. Your manufacturer may have details for this process.
  • If you have a Mac, you can change the printer name and location at System Settings > Printers & Scanners with these instructions. Changes should carry over to your iPad and iOS devices.
Change a printer’s name and location
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Click the printer in the Printers list.
3. Do any of the following:
4. The Printer Information dialog showing the fields for specifying the name and location of the printer, sharing options, the Remove Printer button, and Set Default Printer button.
Name: Enter a descriptive name for the printer (for example, Color Laser Printer).
Location: Enter the printer’s location (for example, “outside my office”).
