New battery MB Air

Hello! I just replace the battery in my MB Air and now the computer shut off all the time at around 40%, how is this possible? I have Mac OS Monterey and MB Air 1.6 GHZ Dual-Core Intel Core i5 from 2015.

Did you have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider perform the battery replacement? If so, then take it back and have them make things right as you have a 90 day part/repair warranty. I must say it is very unusual to have a bad battery from Apple like this, so it may be due to some other issue (hardware or software).

If a third party battery, you can try to calibrate the battery by charging it to 100% and leaving the charger connected for at least several hours afterwards. Then disconnect the charger and use the laptop only on the battery until the laptop powers off. Reconnect the charger and let it charge to 100% again.

If you installed a third party battery, then it may be bad. Unfortunately the quality of third party Lithium-ion batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from reputable vendors. OWC or iFixIt are the best options for a third party Lithium-ion batteries.

Hi there!

First, try to reset the SMC.

Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support.

Only go to Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or send your device to Apple for service (if applicable or available). Do not go to a 3rd party/unauthorized repair center or attempt a repair yourself. This is for the assurance of authorized and professional repairs that use genuine Apple parts. Please refer to this from Apple Support:

Beware of counterfeit parts

Some counterfeit and third party power adapters and batteries may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues. To ensure you receive a genuine Apple battery during a battery replacement, we recommend visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. If you need a replacement adapter to charge your Apple device, we recommend getting an Apple power adapter.
Also non-genuine replacement displays may have compromised visual quality and may fail to work correctly. Apple-certified screen repairs are performed by trusted experts who use genuine Apple parts.
