Creating Multi-Output Device - Including AirPlay

I saw another question within the community who had the same exact problem. I'm trying to make a Multi-Output Device and including AirPlay devices on the network. I can play with the AirPlay devices solely. However, as soon as I make an aggregate-multi device and I select that to play it goes back to my main local computer and does not include or see AirPlay anymore.

Is this functionality intentionally broken? If not how do I properly set this up? Here's photos from the other user that had the exact same problem.

I see similar reply or several threads but it doesn’t solve the issue.

Airplay option is always greyed out despite being on Apple’s own screenshot of “multiple output” feature documentation. I tested this with several computer, several macOS version (including Ventura) and official Apple speakers.

Several people suggest a specific 3rd software as a workaround but it requires signifiant changes on the computer security setting.

It should work out of box, or at least if there’s specific limitations, they should be explained

Hi Bohnster69,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand you're running into an issue using multiple output devices, and we're happy to help. Make sure you're using the steps to use multiple output devices here:

1. In the Audio MIDI Setup app  on your Mac, click the Add button  at the bottom of the sidebar in the Audio Devices window, then choose Create Multi-Output Device.
2. A new multi-output device appears in the sidebar. To rename the device, click it, then enter a new name.
3. Select the new multi-output device, then on the right side of the Audio Devices window, select the Use checkbox of each device you want to use in the multi-output device.
4. To set the master device for the multi-output device, click the Master Device pop-up menu, then choose an output device.

See more about those steps here: Play audio through multiple devices at once in Audio MIDI Setup on Mac - Apple Support

Thanks.
