What is the 'open' program in Login Items used for?

In background allowed items, there is an unidentified program 'open'. If I execute it with Terminal, it shows that 'Open opens files from a shell'. What is it used for? Should I enable it?

Unix executable—

I would simply ignore it


An upcoming point update to the macOS may sort these anomalies we are seeing— there are a plethora of simialr post here...




The current stable release of Ventura including bug fixes, security updates is macOS Ventura 13.2.1
