Notes using a lot of energy - computer lagging

Using old mid 2013 MacBook Air (all I can afford running Big Sur 11.7.4

I've done a really dumb thing. I mistakenly attempted to drag a huge file into a note (I thought I was just dragging highlighted text), the computer fan came on and I got lots of lagging. I got a notification in the app saying "maximum attachment reached" or some such thing and I panicked a bit and deleted the note. However the computer continued to attempt to complete the task I had asked it to do, now impossible because of the deleted note. I quit the app, then shut the computer down and restarted (done that several times now) but it just continues trying to complete the process. The funny thing is it's only the Energy Impact that's really high around the 300 mark at the moment (see picture) CPU is 5.5%, memory 135 - 145 MB and Disk 2.5 MB. But the machine is really laggy. Can anyone help??

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.7

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading. It will only load the Minimum amount of Core Apple Processes to allow the the computer to function at a reduced Level of Performance

3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

4 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.
