Google Maps Doesn't Speak When Using

I have a 2012 Cadillac SRX with older bluetooth technology but my phone is connected via bluetooth to the car. Why doesn't my Google Maps app produce audible speaking directions even when 1) connected to bluetooth, 2) the app is not muted, 3) volume is up, and 4) notifications from Google Maps is turned on?

why is my iphone 12 calling my car radio during apple maps navigation? When my iphone 12 is connected via bluetooth to my car entertainment system, it no longer just sends the audio through the speakers specifically when using Apple Maps. My phone "calls" the system to give the audio directions - and yes, it shows as a phone call on the screen. This does not happen for Google Maps or other things, just Apple Maps. I have seen some general responses to this but nothing that provided workable instructions on how to actually resolve the issue. My spouse has the exact same phone, exact same IOS loaded, and mine is the only one with this issue and it is aggravating.
