How to use .ipa files correctly

I downloaded an ipa file and I honestly don’t know how to use it/ play it. Can somebody help me?

How to safely download IPA Files without a computer? Okay, so I am trying to download IPA files (Note that I don’t have a computer so I can’t use my computer to download) and it doesn’t even let me because it’s not “secure”. I know that some IPA files contain dangerous things but this is on an another level. Just because it’s not secure doesn’t mean I must be forced to not download it because its integrity couldn’t be verified. Do I need iTunes IPA files on my iPad? Do I need to keep my large directory of ipa files for iTunes? (158 files/11.83 Gb) What are they used for? Many of them I deleted from my iPad. Do I need to keep those ipa files if I ever want to reinstall them on my iPad? I am still using iTunes 12.8 with OS X 10.12. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

I got it onto my home screen but it says “unable to install” whenever I press it.

I did something and now in my files there is a blank app icon with .app
