Please start here if you are using iCloud email. This Apple Support article explains how to set up iCloud mail to sync with all of your devices: Set up iCloud Mail on all your devices. 

Changes that you make to your inbox with one device should update across all of your devices. If you are noticing that one device is offline or unable to connect with iCloud Mail, please try the steps in this next article: If iCloud Mail isn't working. 

The article above explains how you can check your iCloud account settings, the network connection that you are using, and the system software that your devices have installed. 

Please reply back here for more help if you continue to notice that your mail changes are not updating as you would expect.

If you're having issues with Gmail not syncing as expected, it'd likely be best to work with Gmail support on the matter. Make sure you don't have Low Power Mode enabled on your devices either since this prevents syncing from occurring.
