You'd think you can simply add Apple Classical as a music service o your Sonos app. But no. Here are some options:
1) Send Apple Classical to your Sonos network via your iPhone's Airplay 2 links. Sonos' second-gen devices are Airplay 2 friendly. Find them through your phone's Control Center. Airplay 2 can stream 44-16 music resolution, which is good enough for most of us who don't live in an anechoic chamber. And the new Sonos ERA 300 speaker and its home theater speakers are Dolby Atmos friendly, if you care.
2) Subscribe to the 2 million track+, all-classical, adroitly-organized and well-curated Idagio streaming service. Then simply add Idagio to your Sonos music sources instead of Apple Classical. Upgrade to Idagio Premium+ to get a lossless FLAC stream (44-16); Sonos can handle FLAC and ALAC resolution.
3) Explore music on Apple Classical, on your iPhone, and Add to Library (under "…" on the selection's screen.) Your picks also appear in your regular Apple Music library! To play these selections on Sonos, add (generic) Apple Music as a music service on your Sonos account, if you haven't already. Then look for your newest classical finds on Sonos under Apple Music > Recently Added. Click to play on Sonos. I collect music all the time in Idagio and find it instantly mirrored in the Sonos app under Music Services > Idagio > My Collection. Now I do the same with Apple Classical, looking for my tracks under Apple Music > Recently Added. Tagging whole albums is more efficient, natch. You can still play a particular track.
I've been happy with my stereo and its Idagio > Sonos feed for a few years, sweet BBC speakers and all. An Apple Classical > Sonos connection through Airplay 2 (Method #1) might be slick, but I'd need to invest in some newer Sonos hardware — costing several years' worth of an Idagio premium subscription — just to make Airplay 2 work. Tell you what: if Sonos keeps BBC 3's stream available as a Live Station in the US, I'll ante up.

That's interesting, re Add to a Playlist.
Add to Library displays fully. When I choose a particular album in Apple Classical > [Album] > Add to Library, it appears in Sonos > Browse > Apple Music > Recently Added — with album art, composer, title (sometimes abbreviated in its current iPhone view), soloist and/or unit. Click on that entry for complete track details and more.
Example: "Six Evolutions - Bach: Cello Su … Yo-Yo Ma," featured on Apple Classical's Listen Now [its landing page] > Essential Albums section.
Interestingly, my Library feature in Apple Classical itself seems also to include "classical" albums that I've saved to my Apple Music library in the past, although not in any discernible order (such as alphabetical by composer, soloist or unit). "Recently Added" is a big help here, in the Sonos options.
Shouldn't Apple Classical Library offer Sort options like Apple Music Library does? This feels like something left behind on the to-do list when release day arrived. The Playlist display issue (classical-only or mixed-genre?) feels like another. Apple Classical feels very polished, so far, otherwise.
Thanks. It's the playlists that have the problem. For example ,on Yo Yo Ma: Our common nature, the pieces all appear on the the apple music app with the composer and all other details. But they do not in the sonos apple service e.g Silent Woods, Op 68 gives you du Pre , Barenboim and Chicago Symphony Orchestra but not the compose, Dvorak. So if you are listening to a play list you have to guess the music which is not particularly helpful. Soon sonos you cannot take full advantage of the playlists with their recommendations. Apple classical app works fine but it is not properly integrated into Sonos
That's is what I do but apple music will list the information without the composer. So on a playlist you just get the artist and movement title. NSo no composer thus: 2 movement Adagio , Barenboim
