Settings → “Confirm iPad Passcode”?
In Settings, beneath my name, I noticed a red badge next to “Confirm iPad Passcode.” Note that this is an iPad I’ve had for years, and I haven’t made any changes on it other than updating the OS occasionally.
When I tap on the item, a panel opens on the right called “Apple ID Suggestions,” and under that I’m asked to confirm the iPad passcode to keep using iCloud. Huh? Okay, fine.
When I tap Continue, I’m taken to a full-screen text entry field called “Enter iPad Passcode,” which is the passcode I use to unlock the iPad. Okay, fine.
But nothing I enter is accepted—as in the Done button doesn’t do anything. I can enter numbers or letters or nonsense, but the Done button seems like a dummy button. It’s active, but there’s no message or spinner or any indication that it can read my finger tap.
So this screen is a dead end. My iPad seems to be operating normally, but that annoying red badge on the Settings app will never go away.
