Monterey 12.6.3 still no batt % while charging

Or is it something I said?

Magic TrackPad 2 give warning when low but no indication of charge level while charging.

I've tried right clicks and the like. Is there a way to make the charge level reak appear in real time?

Un-pair and re-pair the trackpad, if you have not already tried that.

Unlikely, but possible: check whether the trackpad identifies and fully works like an Apple Magic Trackpad otherwise, and not as a counterfeit.

One of the locals has an iMac on Monterey macOS 12.6.4 and a wireless Magic Trackpad—but with that and the wireless keyboard both using the Lightning wired connection, and System Preferences does show the trackpad battery charge. That configuration had previously encountered some wireless issues, and wireless generally can have issues when used in a metropolis, hence the wired connection.
