Import minidv tape in FCP on Ventura?

Hello. I tried importing a minidv tape to my Ventura macbook pro with Premiere Pro (camcorder-firewire-thunderbolt 2-thunderbolt 3) and PP wouldn't even recognize the camcorder. Googling finds that DV may have been removed from Mac OS a few versions ago. Last time I imported one mini dv tape on this macbook I used a trial of Final Cut Pro and it worked great. Before I buy FCP, does it still import DV? Importing in iMovie works, but I'm running into clip order issues there. Thanks!

The Mac OS still supports DV. FCP still does. Perhaps the easiest tool to use for DV is the QuickTime Player. It can import video that can be brought into FCP to edit.

You might want to consider using LifeFlix DV Importer. I know that some people recently had success with it after struggling to get FCP to work with their camcorder/deck. There is a demo version you could try, in order to see if it works.

Thanks! I tried Quicktime today (set video and audio to the camcorder), but the recording stopped about 30 seconds in...not sure why.
