Pair of Dots on the Doc

I recently noticed after closing steam that there were two small dots on my doc. One Blue and one grey. I thought it might an icon for an app messing up. However, while moving apps around the dots forces it to move down the line as though it is an app icon, it can't be clicked. I took a snap of the annomoly and upon zooming in, it almost looks like a super small version of the mail app. To check, I opened and closed mail, but this had no effect.

I have attached the images. Has anyone else seen this or able to offer any insight?

I appreciate any information anyone can provide.

Control (right) click on it, hover over Options and click Remove from Dock.

If that does not help, startup in Safe Mode followed by a normal restart.

Then it is/was not a solid icon.

After rebooting the machine, I did find that the odd icon disappeared. I am still curious as to what exactly it is, but for now I can only assume it was a glitch occurring during the doc animation.

I'll second the glitch theory. If it returns, try Safe Mode followed by a normal restart.
