iPhone 14 Plus iOS 16.4 Battery Drain

I recently purchased an iPhone 14 Plus and updated it to iOS 16.4. However, since the update, I have noticed a significant decrease in battery life. My phone is draining its battery much faster than before, even when I am not actively using it.

I have tried restarting my iPhone and checking the battery usage stats to see which apps are consuming the most power. I have also disabled background app refresh and location services for apps that I don't use frequently. Unfortunately, these steps have not resolved the issue.

I am reaching out to the Apple community section for assistance in resolving this problem. Has anyone else experienced similar battery drain issues after updating to iOS 16.4? If so, have you found any solutions or workarounds? Apple should take necessary actions. why a trustable company do like this to its customers?

Or your passwords and other confidential documents 😂

I’m just saying: I don’t usually trust any old bozo who says they’ve got a “signed version of iOS 16.3.1” on their website

I get ALL of my OS’s from their respective websites only

the only third party place I would trust is archive.com to get WIN XP

I updated my iPhone 12 and my husband’s SE on the same day. I’ve notice my battery drains faster than normal but nowhere as quickly as my husband’s battery. He may use his phone a couple times a week, which meant he only had to charge it once or twice a week. Since he updated to 16.4.1, his battery drains to 1% in less than 24 hours without him using it all. I hate to see how quickly it drains when he does use it. Hopefully Apple has a fix to this issue very soon.

I was in touch with Apple Support about this issue, after several gyrations and recommendations by the Genius Bar. My battery is brand new so the issue has to be the software or the phone itself(?). iPhone 8 Plus worked great until 16.4. Anyway, my complaint was taken by a senior technician who escalated it to the “Engineering Team”. I had to provide screenshots of my battery usage (% and minutes) for past 24 hours and past 10 days. I’m supposed to get a call back tomorrow morning with any findings. Will let everyone know. Very frustrating! 😩

My screenshots and battery info/ diagnostics were sent to the Engineering team 2 days ago and seems the results came in same day(?). My scheduled call with the Apple Support specialist was to be today (2 days later) at 9am or a little later. By 9:40am no call, so I opened another chat with Apple Support. Case went to a different support specialist who Said the engineers found nothing unusual (?) and that my average battery usage was lasting 12 hours. I wish!! This specialist said let’s try something else…walked me through transferring / restoring my data from iPhone via iTunes on laptop. I never use iTunes so it was a 1/2 hour process.

Upshot…

…my phone was restored as new(?). Only difference from previous resets and restores… my texts are now gone forever. Had to reset mail. Contacts, photos, calendar, and Apple apps returned. I had to redo all settings, reinstall some apps… and battery still draining!

I Opened another chat and this specialist did a remote share of my iPhone screen and agreed the battery is draining too quickly. She said she would send me a link to document this ongoing issue. I haven’t received it yet. She also said there’s nothing more Apple can do.

Hopefully there will be a new iOS update to address this. 😩

So … I’m emailing myself my photos and contacts. I will never do a restore from this phone again. I’ll hang onto it to keep my calendars.

If there’s anyone here who knows where a low-tech senior citizen like me can learn how to do this more efficiently, I’d love to hear from you. Very frustrating.

Yes all were restored… except text messages… including the battery drain problem! ☹️ Email had to be re-set up, non-Apple apps re-downloaded. Third time I had to do this. Finally got the email “link” for Apple about this issue, but it’s the same email form as usual: http://apple.com/feedback

At least this time I can add a couple of case numbers. 🤷‍♀️ Frustrating, futile day…
