My iPhone Xr will not receive text messages sent when it was off. It will receive messages sent when on. Recently changed carriers, and that did not solve the problem. Tried 'rebooting' app; nothing changed. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
As SravanKrA writes, your iPhone cannot receive SMS messages if it is completely switched off.
But if you don't see your messages on the Lock screen when your screen is locked, check if the feature is enabled. Go to: Settings → Notifications → Messages

Also check if you have a Focus profile activated. For example Do Not Disturb. Do Not Disturb does not show notifications for messages and other apps when enabled. You can disable Do Not Disturb in the Control Center, and you can view and edit your Focus profiles here: Settings → Focus
Generally, if the carrier is unable to deliver an SMS message because the phone was off or simply not connected to the network, the messages will be held for some period of time and delivered when the phone next registers with the network. How long the message is retained is dependent on the carrier. I suggest you take this matter up with your carrier.
Thank you for responding. However, to clarify, everything works as it should when the phone is ON. But if the phone has been OFF, it fails to receive any undelivered text messages sent while off when turned back on. I’ve had the phone since 2018, and the problem just suddenly occurred in late 2021. As of the present, no can figure out why this would happen.
When your iPhone is off you can neither send nor receive text messages.
