How can I update my browser on my MacBook Pro?
How can I update my browser if it doesn't show an update is needed...but I am being told I need to update my browser

Safari is update when you upgrade the macOS on your MacBook Pro.
The model year of a MacBook Pro is available at Apple menu > About This Mac.
A mid 2012 through early 2013 MacBook Pro can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7 but no later. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support
A late 2013 and mid 2014 can be upgraded to the latest version of Big Sur macOS 11 but no later. See:How to download macOS - Apple Support
An early 2015 through 2016 MacBook Pro can be upgraded to the latest version of Monterey macOS 12. See: How to download macOS - Apple Support

If you can't or don't want to update macOS, for security reasons consider using a 3rd party internet browser that supports their current version on older macOS versions. Examples include Chrome and Firefox.
