Adding printer

I need to add my printer (it’s AirPrint or is connected to my iMac as well) to my iPad. Under Printer Pro there was a way to do that, but how does the “system” add that? All the devices are on the same WiFi network, but it’s not showing up when I go to print something. Where can I add it?

Thanks, Jeff. I finally went to the Epson website to look up my XP-410 and see, since I had upgraded to Ventura on the iMac, if there were some new software editions that had not been upload "automatically." Since their software couldn't find the printer on my network (even though both had the same name, Password, etc.), I finally reconnected the printer using the "USB" cable, and lo and behold, the internet version also showed up. So it was now available for my iPhone and iPad. Interestingly, my wife could find it and use it when it didn't show up on my system. So all is well again. Love upgrades! FYI my iMac is the new 24" with the M1 chip, so that may have had something to do with it. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Hi,

It would help if you could post information about the exact printer make and model.

With an AirPrint-compatible model, you should not have to use additional apps. An AirPrint printer must be connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router) as the iPad (and the Mac).

Use AirPrint to print from your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Generally speaking, if there is a problem with AirPrint printing, it may be a good idea to try a full power-cycle sequence (including the router): Power off the router, the printer, the iPad, the Mac, and all other devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iPad and the Mac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.

If a network printer is not an AirPrint model, it may still be possible to print from an iPad via the Wi-Fi router if the printer manufacturer provides a special iPadOS app.

If the printer is a USB-only model, and a Mac has drivers for it, a Mac app like Printopia can be used for printing from an iPad. In this case, the Mac connected to the network would act as a print server.
