Overscroll Animation Does Not Work When Using Mouse

There is an 'overscroll' animation in most MacOS apps i.e. if I scroll down and the page / list ends the list will go up a bit and then bounce back. The same happens when scrolling up.

This works when using trackpad, but not when using mouse wheel.

(Too see what I am talking about, scroll past the top or bottom of this webpage or in some other app e.g. Activity Monitor. Try with trackpad and then with an external mouse.)

For mice with horizontal scroll wheel, it works in the horizontal direction, but not vertical direction.

The problem is not with mice. It happens with a $100 mouse also.

I guess I wasn't clear. It happens with any mouse with a scroll wheel.

Why it matters? Why does this work with touchpad? Because it's part of useful user feedback. A little nudge to remind the page is finished, you can't scroll past.

I can tell when I can't scroll beyond a certain point when I can't scroll any further. I don't need a "bounce" to figure that out.

This is a part of all modern OSes.

I couldn't say. I haven't used "all modern OSes".
