5g not working since iOS 16.4 upgrade

I have noticed that after the iOS 16.4 upgrade on my iPhone 13 Pro Max that the Verizon 5g cellular network is not connecting. It is stuck using LTE. Prior to the upgrade I had 5g cellular network connection. I have restarted the phone, reset network settings, and checked that 5g auto is chooses in the cellular network settings. Nothing seems to bring back 5g.

Well, I am switching from Netherlands to Estonia using iPhone 14 and latest iOS. Before iOS 16.4 5G was working fine for both carriers and even when roaming across countries. I have tried all recommendations from reset, to airplane mode. Everything! Still not working. So, your suggestion is that I call all carriers in Europe? This is Apple’s task, not mine! Remember that this is not a new problem. All dual-sim iPhones had the same problem a couple of years back and Apple fixed it with a new iOS release.

First, make sure your device is fully updated, the most recent version of iOS at present is 16.5.1:

Most iPhone 14 owners are seeing more 5G signals than ever.

I don't know which carriers you have, but often many carriers share the same network so multiple carriers may in fact be the same from a signal point of view.

Here is my experience.

It is not a carrier issue... it is an iPhone issue.

Yes, i can make this assumption.

I bought a new iPhone 13 standard on may. Since then i never had good celullar signal. It was the first time in years a saw "3g" signal. With my later android i was always LTE or 5g.

Last week I took it tho the tech. support.

At the store, I had absolutely no signal at all. The technicians ran all the tests and couldn't find any issue... NONE.

At that point, I asked if there was another iPhone they could use to test the SIM card. They found another iPhone, put my SIM card in it, and voilà, LTE signal appeared instantly.

They returned the SIM card to my iPhone, and once again, there was no signal.

It became clear that my iPhone had a problem, even though Apple's diagnosis said otherwise.

The technician managed to identify an "issue" with the side button, so he could justify warranty to replace the entire back part of the iPhone.

When I got the iPhone back, three days later, with the new back part, the signal was working without any problem.

I asked the technician, and he told me that he was able to identify (his words) "issues with the cellular network sensor."

Therefore, no, this is not a carrier problem. It was a hardware problem that apple's test kit wasn't even able to find.
