The only definitive way to know if it's a real one is if you purchased it from an Apple Store, the Apple website or an Apple authorized retailer location.
You can also look at the writing on the bottom side to see if it matches a real one. You can find examples for the different models here: About Apple USB power adapters
If your power adapter is not working, you can take it to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider location for inspection, and service options if it is in fact an Apple manufactured one.
