I had the same problem with an old iPod Nano 2nd Generation. It was recognised by any Mac. I reset it but in Music it was shown as being open in another window. I followed someones reply to click on iTunes store then click on iPod and it worked.

The trick is to open the iTunes Store and then go back to the iPod. Everything is good.

Reboot the computer with the option to reopen windows turned off.

Everything is *not* good. Why does there need to be a "trick" to make pretty much everything in Ventura work properly? How long is it going to take for Apple to fix all these ridiculous bugs? It's the most annoying MacOS I've ever used.

I have new macbook pro m2 and having great difficulty in resetting and refilling my ipod 160GB

Agreed, and I still miss the iTunes DJ function.
