Mail.app v16.0 cannot delete messages from Inbox.

What happens when you attempt to delete? Do you get an error message? Are they grayed out and not allowing you to select them for deletion?
You can try this (In Mail Settings) as a first step to see if it helps. Turn off 'Protect Mail Activity' and turn off
'Hide IP Address'. Try to delete and if that works you should be able to toggle them back on.
Mail.app's inability to delete messages from an Inbox has become chronic/worse.
A few minutes ago, Mail.app's Inbox for one of my IMAP accounts <email@***.com> contained three messages: one that I had deleted last night, and two that arrived this morning. I clicked on the first message; I hit my delete key; and this message vanished. Same for each of the other two. I had seen no error message; and now Mail's Inbox contained zero messages.
Then I clicked the "Get Mail" button (the button containing an envelope icon) at the top of Mail's window. All three massages reappeared in Mail's Inbox. -ccc3rd

Thank you, Randall, for your quick answer. The messages that cannot be deleted are not grayed out and appear unexceptional in Mail's Inbox. A small fraction, perhaps 10% of the messages in the Inbox, cannot be deleted; but this fraction increases every day. When I try to trash/delete one of these messages, I get an error message like this one:
I don't understand it this message. In particular, I don't know why a reference is made to a "Sent Messages" mailbox. I hope this message is means something to you.
I have this problem with two different e-mail accounts, at two different e-mail servers, one at <mit.edu> and the other for my personal domain <counselman.com> hosted by Network Solutions. In both cases, my incoming e-mail protocol is IMAP, and I access each e-mail account from an iPhone and from a Mac.
I have this deletion/trashing problem with the current version of Mail.app under macOS Ventura 13.2.1 on two different Macs, both late-2020 vintage with Intel processors. In Mail Settings|Privacy, my checkboxes are checked just as in your screenshot. In the Mail|Mailbox menu, I have executed the Synchronize and the Rebuild commands, with no joy. I have Googled for fixes with no joy; and Google found statements that my problem is a known problem with Mail.app with no known solution. I have no idea whether these statements are correct.
