The "Related Article" above your question has some answers.
Seems firmware updates for iPods are delivered automatically when they are connected. You just keep the device(s) you use them with updated to the newest iOS or MacOS version.
About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says latest for iPhone is iOS 16.4
What's new in the updates for macOS Ventura - Apple Support
says: macOS Ventura 13.3 is the latest
