Search is not finding content in excel spreadsheets

I have a folder of both spreadsheets (Excel) and pdf's. When I search for a term, the finder finds it in the pdf's but not in the spreadsheets.

Search not showing files in Finder This is a new problem, since Ventura. Before Ventura, when I did a Search for a file, it showed the results in lots of venues, one of them being Finder. I could click on one of those files and it would take me to the Finder window where that file was located. Now with Ventura, I don't have the option to list those files in Finder. How can I fix that? Search function in any PDF viewed from the files app on iPad specifically isnt working — GLITCHED Every time I try the search function on my iPad, like a keyword in an e-book that I downloaded onto my iCloud drive, the function glitches in just 3 seconds and refreshes the whole PDF to bring me back to page 1. It has been going on similarly for both my old iPad Air 4 and now the new iPad Air 5! It is frustrating that I always have to use my macbook just to browse for the words or phrases in my PDF documents that are located on my iCloud Drive.

finder - search feature I would have assumed that when you type in .pdf the finder would have only found files ending in pdf. It doesn't. I get other files ending in other extensions. Searching for pdf returns files that do not have any characters with the letters pdf as a file name or extension. (I get file names that end in .zip or .css and others. Searching for *.pdf returns nothing. I clearly need help understanding how the finder locates files with partial searches.

Start with making sure the term you're searching has the same spelling, punctuation, and other data as it is in the Excel spreadsheets.

If you continue to have issues, search with Spotlight. For steps, click here: Search with Spotlight on Mac. This information will help determine if the issue is specifically with Finder or system-wide.
